PLATTER

Privacy Policy

Effective October 24, 2026

Platter is an iPhone app that plays your Apple Music library on a virtual turntable. It's made by Grayson Morgan ("I" or "me"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the app.

The short version: Platter doesn't collect your personal data. I don't run servers for the app, there are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.

Information I collect

None. Platter doesn't send any information about you or how you use the app to me or to anyone else.

Apple Music

To play music, Platter asks for permission to access Apple Music. If you allow it, the app reads your library, albums, artwork and playback status through Apple's MusicKit, and plays music through Apple Music on your device. That happens between your device and Apple, under Apple's privacy policy. Platter doesn't copy your library anywhere else. You can turn off access at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Media & Apple Music.

Data stored on your device and in your iCloud

Platter saves a few things so the app remembers how you like it: your settings (like turntable style), favorites, custom crates, play counts and similar preferences. These stay on your device. Some of them also sync between your own devices through your iCloud account using Apple's iCloud key-value storage. I can't see or access this data. Deleting the app removes it from your device, and you can manage iCloud data in your device's Settings.

Widgets

Platter's widgets show what's playing using information shared between the app and its widgets on your device. That information stays on your device.

Sharing

If you choose to share what you're listening to, Platter creates a share card and an Apple Music link and opens the standard iOS share sheet. Nothing is sent unless you pick where to share it, and what happens next is governed by the app or service you choose.

Tracking and advertising

Platter doesn't track you across apps or websites, doesn't show ads and doesn't sell or share personal information.

Children

Platter doesn't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, I'll post the new version on this page and update the effective date above.
